Among all insects, butterflies are definitely the ones with the best reputation. Everyone loves these gracious flying stained-glass pieces of artwork that have inspired poets and charmed nature lovers. However, butterflies are actually violent animals, drug addicts and sexual maniacs.

They are real Dr.Jekylls and Mr.Hydes. These harmless pollen-gatherers were, at birth, voracious caterpillars that would make even a big white shark jealous. Entomologist Georges Brossard knows something about it: we will see him work like a maniac to feed caterpillars on a butterfly farm.

We usually think butterflies are soft and fragile. On the contrary, like most insects, they are remarkably robust. Monarchs, for instance, can make an incredible migration of thousands of kilometres. Butterflies also defend their territory against other insects and fight between themselves. They only have one idea in mind: sex. A butterfly is, in fact, only a copulating flying machine.

Some butterflies are definitely drunkards, filling up on the alcohol from fermented fruits. Others appreciate exotic meals such as urine, excrements and rotten fish.
