A glimpse, in words and pictures, of the places where Georges and his team shot the different episodes in the INSECTIA series and of some of the incidents that occurred. A chance to meet the people they met and to catch Georges live, in all his glory.

South Africa - Emaweni Reserve

Emaweni. The savanna
Situated in South Africa, in the Transvaal, between the little towns of Vaalwater and Melkrivier, the Emaweni Reserve is the property of Eben Synman, an old friend of Georges Brossard.

It is home to a wide variety of large mammals, such as rhinoceroses, giraffes, hippopotami, ostriches, zebras and all sorts of species of gazelles and antelopes. It is equally rich in entomological fauna -- dung beetles, termites, locusts, rose chafers and giant millipeds abound.

Covering an area of several hundred square kilometres, Emaweni offers a wide diversity of landscapes -- grassy savannas, to be sure, but also lakes, rivers and a spectacular escarpment, the famous Double Cliffs.

Malaysia - The Cameron Highlands tea plantations

Sungai Palas Estate plantation
The soil and temperate climate of Cameron Highlands in northern Malaysia are ideal for growing tea. Near the small town of Brinchang, the tea plantations extend as far as the eye can see, shaping landscapes that are quite simply breathtaking. These plantations are much sought after, not only by tourists, but also by film production crews. Just before we arrived to shoot scenes for INSECTIA, the meandering plantation roads had been used to shoot a Mercedes commercial.

Malaysia - The Petronas Twin Towers

The Petronas Twin Towers are to Kuala Lumpur what the World Trade Center is to New York. Towering 452 metres, or 1,483 feet (and not 1,483 metres as mistakingly narrated in the program!) above street level, they are the world's tallest towers. They stand in the famous Golden Triangle district, Kuala Lumpur's new city centre, and are the work of American architects Cesar Pelli%%%Associates.
